Many of the leading authorities in the Bass fishing world predict that the next world record Largemouth Bass will be caught at Lake Baccarac.
The lake was stocked with Florida strain Bass in 1978. When the government allowed the lake to be opened to sport fishing, success was beyond most angler’s dreams.
Since the year 2000, there has been very little fishing taking place on the lake. Water levels have been at all-time highs and the Bass population has exploded. Over 90% of our guided fishermen catch at least one Bass between 9 and 12 pounds daily!
A typical day is as follows:
You are woken up early every morning with a fresh cup of coffee. Breakfast is served and it is off to the lake to fish until 11:00 AM. Lunch is served at approximately 11:30 AM. You then relax and take a siesta until 1:00 PM or later if you wish and then it’s back on the lake fishing until dark. After a hard day of fishing, it’s back to the lodge to relax, enjoy your favorite drink and have dinner. Not long after dinner, our tired anglers normally retire to the comfort of their rooms to rest and dream of the next day’s trophy Bass fishing.
“In 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 I have made six trips to Lake Baccarac and fished a total of 20 days. During those 20 days of fishing I have caught, weighed and released 28 Largemouth Bass weighing 10 pounds or better, with my two largest fish weighing in at 16 pounds 13 ounces and 15 pounds 9 ounces. During 2005, two of our guests caught Bass weighing 18 pounds 3 ounces and 18 pounds 8 ounces!
Even on the worst day, Lake Baccarac Bass fishing is awesome and some days are totally unbelievable. I could use a whole paragraph just listing the names of men, women and children who caught their first bass over 10 pounds during 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. I cannot even begin to estimate how many Bass weighing between 6 and 9 pounds I’ve caught during my trips.
For 30-plus years I have loved to Bass fish. I have bass fished from Zimbabwe, Africa to Ontario, Canada, and never have I fished a place like Lake Baccarac. Its is special for not only the number of fish, but also quality of fish.”
