The country has over 200,000 square kilometers committed to wildlife protection that covers national parks, game reserves, game controlled areas, wildlife management areas and open areas on village lands. Hunting is carried out in all of these areas except national parks where hunting or any form of human activity is strictly prohibited.
Mike is Wes’ lead professional hunter in Tanzania. Mike was born in South Africa in 1978. He attended university in the United States. Mike has hunted his entire life. However, most of his hunting knowledge was learned while serving his apprenticeship under Danny McCallum and Gerald Miller, honing his skills over the past 18 years as a professional hunter in Tanzania, Cameroon and the Central African Republic. Mike is a very high energy no nonsense guy; however, a lot of fun to be in the bush with. He is an excellent judge of trophies, a crack shot and an expert tracker.
Tanzania’s Renowned Maswa North Game Reserve – Maswa North is considered by many to be one of the African continents leading prime game hunting areas. This hunting area can be reached by private air charter or by flying commercial to Mwanza and driving approximately 4 hours to camp. Maswa’s 751 square kilometers is located along the southwestern boundary of the Serengeti National Park. More than 1.5 million Wildebeest migrate from the Serengeti National Park through Maswa North Game Reserve in January and February feeding on the new growth of grasses after the short rains of November and December. The Southern part of Maswa forms the Serengeti short grass plains. Bottom line, the proximity of Maswa to the Serengeti National Park: The climate is moderate here with cold nights in July, August and early September. During the day temperatures will reach upwards of 80 degrees F. Game is plentiful and Maswa offers exceptional trophy quality for Cape Buffalo with bulls between 45 and 48 inches harvested annually; and where you have plenty of Buffalo you will find good numbers of black maned Lions. In addition you will see large Leopards and other splendid trophies that include Robert’s Gazelle, Roan, Cokes Hartebeest, Grant’s Gazelle, Thompson’s Gazelle, East African Impala, Zebra, Defassa Waterbuck, Warthog, Topi, Wildebeest, Baboon, Bushbuck, Eland, Bohor Reedbuck, Klipspringer, Steinbuck, Hyena, Jackal and Ostrich.
Masailand – National Geographic TV Africa!! Every safari hunter and explorer owes it to themselves to visit and hunt this area. The hunting is fabulous for big Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Lesser Kudu, Gerenuk, Fringe-Eared Oryx, Kirk’s Dik Dik, Grant’s Gazelle, Thompson’s Gazelle, East African Impala, East African Kudu, Bohor – Reedbuck and more. This area is easy to reach by driving between 2 and 3 hours from the city of Arusha. Most of our guests allow a few days extra to visit Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, Arusha, the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and the Tarangire National Park. This is “home” to the Masai people. Without a doubt a wonderful memory-filled experience.
Selous Game Reserve – The Selous Game Reserve with an area of over 54,000 sq. kilometers is one of the largest remaining wilderness areas with the largest remaining African Elephant population and has been inscribed in the World Heritage List since 1982. Predominantly miombo woodland, our Selous Concession on the South Eastern Sector, Block MHJ3 is bordering Kilwa on the East and Liwale to the South. It offers a wide variety of trophies which include Elephant, Leopard, Lion, Buffalo and other plains game species. Our area is a specialty for large Elephant bull hunting. Our Selous Block MHJ3 has been put under careful and strict conservation management regime comprising restricted animal quota utilization for a very long period and is therefore exceptional for producing big Elephant tusks trophies.
