World-class Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Pacific Sailfish, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, Roosterfish, Grouper, Cubera Snapper, Amberjack, Mackerel, Tarpon and Blue Runner being boated 6 to 12 miles from the lodge, all add up to a successful and memorable trip. The word “Panama” means “Abundance of fish.”
Tropic Star definitely lives up to this reputation with over 250 IGFA world records being broken. The majority of our records are from Black, Blue, Striped Marlin and Pacific Sailfish. Tropic Star Lodge is a paradise cut from the side of a mountain on the Pacific rim of the Darien Rainforest in Panama, Central America. The lodge is 150 miles south of Panama City. The closest road is 100 miles away. Consequently, the lodge is only accessed by boat or plane. Since there are no other lodges close to Tropic Star and it is so far by boat from Panama City, fishing pressure is non-existent. This is coupled with first-class fully-modern accommodations, wonderful meals, a fleet of 31-foot Bertram boats each with its own professional captain and mate, the best of Shimano, Penn, Cape Fear and Moldcraft tackle.
Typical Itinerary for a 6 Day, 7 Night Trip:
Day 1-Friday: Fly to Panama. Upon arrival at the Tocumen International Airport, you will be met and escorted through immigration and customs by the Royal Saloon Meet-and-Greet Service. While you relax and enjoy a complementary drink in the VIP club, your luggage and paperwork will be taken care of. After you have been cleared through customs and your bags collected, you will be transferred to your hotel via private shuttle where you will overnight in Panama City.
Day 2-Saturday: Your private shuttle will pick you up at the hotel and transfer you to the domestic airport. After your 50-minute flight, you land at the Pinas Bay Airstrip. From the airstrip you will be transferred via boat to the lodge, which takes approximately 10 minutes. By now you begin to realize the excitement and beauty that surrounds Tropic Start Lodge. Upon arrival at the lodge you will be greeted by the T.S.L. staff, given a short orientation, settle into your room, unpack and have lunch. After lunch you can relax, enjoy the pool, beach-comb or explore. Later that evening there will be a welcome party around the pool followed by a buffet dinner and barbecue. By now you will know you’re in a tropical paradise.
Day 3-8/Sunday-Friday: A staff member will wake you up at 5:30 AM with a fresh cup of coffee, juice or tea. Breakfast is served in the dining room at your leisure. Your boat departs the dock at 6:30 AM (unless you request a later departure). Lines are up at 3:00 PM unless you have a fish on! You will return to the lodge, shower, relax in your room, around the pool, in the lounge, beach-comb, snorkel, explore, hike or kayak before dinner. On Friday evenings the local Indians usually come to the lodge to sell their hand-crafted baskets, carvings and other wares. This will give you the opportunity to purchase some unbelievably beautiful local arts and crafts.
Day 9-Saturday: You will fly back to Panama City and transfer via private shuttle to your hotel. The remainder of today is open for you to enjoy Panama City. We have several optional Panama City tours for you to choose from.
Day 10-Sunday: Transfer from your hotel via private shuttle to the Panama City International Airport. You will receive the same VIP escort service upon departure you received when arriving.
